Yep, pretty bad sports weekend for me.
Last night, the Cowboys lost 27-26 to the Cardinals on a last second field goal. Losing has become common for the Cowboys this year but they were 4-2 under Garrett and facing an Arizona team that appeared worse. Unfortunately for the Cowboys, Kitna threw two INTs in the first quarter, both of which were returned for TDs (and both of which were not Kitna's fault as Austin fell on one and Williams dropped the other). We then fell behind 21-3 before fighting back to take a 26-24 lead with 1:37 left. As has been typical this season we could not handle success and Buehler missed the PAT despite kicking well earlier in the game. The Cardinals were down to 4th and 15 at one point but alas completed a first down on the way to the game winning TD.
Like the Eagle and Saint games under Garrett, we had a chance to win but let it slip through our fingers.
We are now 5-10 and finish next week in Philadelphia. 5-11 is a very strong possibility. 11-5 from last year seems like an eternity ago.
Then tonight, the Canadiens took the road in Long Island before only 3100 fans (there was a snow storm in NY) and most of those fans were for us. We fell behind 2-0 before Pacioretty was kicked out for boarding. The Islanders scored twice during the major penalty (one 5 on 3 while Gomez was also off) and cruised to a 4-1 win.
We have now lost 6 of 8.
Capitals are next on Tuesday.
