RIP Danno

I was watching Hawaii Five O on my PVR tonight (from a couple of weeks ago) and at the start of the episode it stated it was in memoriam of James MacArthur, the original Danny Williams.

He was arguably the best TV sidekick of all time.  While Jack Lord aka Steve McGarrett was clearly the star of the show, the best cop show of all time was also best known for "Book em Danno" which was said by McGarrett to Danny Williams at the end of many episodes during the twelve years it was on tv.  Danny was the faithful second who got McGarrett cleared when he was charged with murder, working tirelessly to clear his friend and boss. 

I also remember James MacArthur from the movie Battle of the Bulge starring Henry Fonda, Telly Savalas and Robert Shaw.  He was the lone American survivor from Malmedy who found out that German spies were disguised as American soldiers protecting a fuel depot.

I found out tonight when I looked up James MacArthur that he was married to Joyce Bulifant, a name most of you don't know but anyone who watched Match Game will remember she was a regular guest "star' the contestants tried to match.

James MacArthur was 73.
