Canadiens exorcised a demon tonight in beating the Whalers err Hurricanes 7-2 at the Bell Centre. It was their first win at home against that franchise since December 2003.
Goals by Plekanec (who also had three assists), Cammalleri, Gionta (with his third in four games), Lapierre, Pouliot, Kostitsyn and Darche gave us the win. We took a 2-0 first period lead only to see the Hurricanes scored twice in two minutes in the second to tie it. Unlike last year though, we didn't cave, and scored three goals in the last six minutes of the second to give us an insurmountable lead of 5-2.
Carey Price kept us in the game early but made arguably the best save of his career on this play http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qd-38-HTW8A&feature=share.
We also scored three power play goals and now have six in the last three games.
Only downside was seeing Markov injured again when Staal and him collided late in the game. It could be his knee again :(
