Today our sisters to the south celebrate the 235th anniversary of their treasonous declaration of indepenence. Of course it is an historical anachronism to state the US came into existence then as they were but a group of 13 colonies who said they were no longer part of Britain and did not become united until later.
Still the event is a major event in world history.
Personally I am glad the two northernmost British colonies , Nova Scotia and Quebec decided not to join the rebellion as it gave a safe haven to loyalists who swelled our numbers and ultimately led to the creation of Canada in 1867.
Personally, I believe the French Revolution was more important as it was not just political but also anti-clerical but the American Revolution is certainly one of the most important events in world history.
