So North Korea shot some missiles into

South Korea and now understandably South Korea is pissed off and threatening revenge/retaliation.

Tell me, why is my cozy part of the world always being destabilized by events in places either a) I have never been to or b) places I would never go?

I mean at least when I was young, we had the Soviets vs the Americans, capitalism/democracy vs communism/totalitarianism.  They always stood there in a room filled with oil holding lit matches saying, dare me, dare me but ultimately both bailed in their perpetual game of chicken and we had no war.

Now however, we have small insignficant countries in the overall scheme of things like North Korea, Afghanistan, Iran (except for its oil and extremely beautiful women, see Rudi Bhaktiar if you don't believe me) Israel and to a lesser extent South Korea (face it we all like Samsung, Kia and Hyundai) are causing problems for the rest of us, driving up oil prices, causing us to face full body scans at airports and generally making our lives less fun.

Maybe we need a return of the Royal Navy who in the old days when some small country got uppity, it sent a gunboat or two and straightened the situation out.

Ah the good old days.

  1. Man, I am all for gunboating the crap out of N. Korea! At least in the old days when the Soviets wanted to do something, they just did it, and didn't give a crap what anyone else thought about it. The U.S. needs to get like that. We nee a serious black-op squad, that can get things done and not bungle it, to go in and take out Kim Jung Il, and his kid. Then we dare the rest of the world to do anything about it. Now all we do is wring our hands and fret. It's BS.
