Well the boys finished off a bad road trip with a gut check win in Florida 3-2 in overtime.
After losing five of their first six on the road, they took on an inferior Panthers team in Sunrise. Even though it was a road game, we had a home crowd advantage as 70% of the crowd cheered for us (all the holiday travellers from Canada).
We fell behind 2-0 early in the second period but unlike most games where we fall behind, this time we didn't give up. Two power play goals in the second by Wizniewski and Gionta tied the game and then we took it to the Panthers most of the third but could not find the winner.
I was getting ready to watch the overtime but for some unknown reason, RDS stopped the feed so I got to watch Crete, Carbonneau and Bouchard talk about the first three periods only to be told Wizniewski scored his second of the night to give us the win.
Sure we only beat the Panthers but after our last stretch, we needed a win of any kind against anyone.
It ends the road trip on a bit of a high and should give us some confidence to take on Atlanta, Pittsburgh and Boston this week.
