Just like the excitement prior to the Olympics was palpable last year, today you can smell the fear amongst the Lower Mainland's diverse population. There is a forecast for snow and as usual, panic is setting in. People are afraid it will start to snow before work is over, that they won't get home, rushing out to buy gloves and boots.
Are we Canadian or not I ask.
Yes I know we are not used to snow here but damn, tis but a few flakes, no need to panic.
Imagine what would happen in this city if we had a real disaster?
That's what it's like when it rains in Los Angeles. We get a tenth of an inch of rain and they are on "Storm Watch" on all the local media, and you get to watch some idiot reporter, standing in the dark, at the bottom of a hill, reporting, in all earnestness (because he learned to do that in journalism school) "Nope, no flooding or apparent damage here, Chet, but the drizzle continues to fall, and we will be standing by to bring you the latest should something actually happen! Back to you, Chet!"
ReplyDeletelol I have heard Jim Rome talk about that on his radio show, it is like here
