Is it more fun to win?

I am debating that point in my head.  Count Jr's team is trying hard every game but always coming up short.  There is never really one reason why they aren't winning, players might be out, there is one superstar on the other team, back to back games tiring them out etc, but in the end, they have only one win  (and a tie) this year and they were in balancing games against the other New Westminster team.

I can see it in Jr's eyes that he is getting frustrated at not winning.  Last year he didn't care if they won or lost, but this year he wants to win.  He played defence last game and said he didn't like it as much because he can't score on defence so he can't help the team win.  I told him that defence is equally as important as you win by scoring AND by preventing the opponent from scoring.

He knows but he feels that he has to score to help the team.  I think he knows that in games where he has scored, they have been closer, and they actually won an tied.  He did score two in a game for the other NW team before being shifted back to the team he is on now (and they won).  Therefore, in a now 7 year old mind, when he scores they win (except for one game), when he doesn't they don't.

I know when I was young in Montreal, there were years I was on good teams which won the majority of their games, and there were years I was on bad teams that lost the majority of their games.  I know which was more fun.

The team is getting better but it seems the teams we have played have just been better.  I wish I knew the answer.  I'm glad the coaches are there to figure that out and I have faith they will turn the team around in the very near future.
