Canucks as Canada's team HAHAHAHA
You always have to laugh at the Vancouver media. They are now implying the Canucks are Canada's Team because they skipped practice Nov 11 to go to the Cenotaph in Ottawa and because of fans in the rinks in Ottawa and Toronto. You have to laugh at such silliness.
They try to couch it by saying Peter Mansbridge of CBC said it re the Cenotaph but we all know you only repeat that with which you agree or to ridicule what was said. The Sun did not ridicule it.
First off, being an easterner living out west, I do laugh at the penis envy so many westerners have re the east. People out west act like they hate the east but really, they are jealous of the east. They are desperate for recognition back east. Even last year when Henrik Sedin won the Hart, there were rumblings on Vancouver radio he would be screwed out of it by the eastern media.
Second, face it people, the east doesn't screw the west, it doesn't know it exists. When the Leafs or Canadiens are on a losing streak, it is the lead story in Vancouver. If the Canucks are on a losing streak, Montreal and Toronto media don't even know the team exists let alone it lost.
Third the recent phenomena of a few Canuck fans in road barns is just that recent. Once the Canucks return to their old ways, those "fans" will disappear. They will never fill the opposing rinks with their fans the way the Canadiens do. Hell earlier this year, the Islanders took out an ad asking IslanderFan to buy tickets so we couldn't fill their rink. The Florida Panthers market their Canadiens' games to our fans.
Then in Canada, we fill the rinks with our fans. No opposing coach has ever complained about the number of Canuck fans in their building like Harry Neale did re CanadienFan in 1980. We all know which team is more popular and it isn't Vancouver.
One thing though, Canuck players better not complain Feb 23 about the number of Canadiens' fans at Rogers Arena Feb 22 given the way they were drooling over Canuck fans in Ottawa.
Hell will have frozen over before the Canucks are Canada's team!
