Boardwalk Empire and TV in general

Not sure about any of you but I watch the HBO series, Boardwalk Empire.  Set during Prohibition in Atlantic City, the main character Nucky Thompson played Steve Buscemi is a politician by day and gangster/rum runner by night.  He takes payoffs from everyone and pretty much runs the town.

I have been to Atlantic City and I guess the mob always ran that town (allegedly because we all know there is no such thing as the mafia ;). 

Al Capone is in the show as are other well known gangsters. 

There is the normal violence and sex as most HBO series have but this series is just boring.  It could be so much more but alas, I started watching so I will keep on watching.

My favourite HBO/Showtime type shows are Spartacus, Rome (gotta love Titus Pullo, who else could come up with lines that if you do X, Y or Z to a woman, you will make her "wet as October", that is just classic writing if you ask me), Hung, Nurse Jackie and The Tudors.

Network tv is so boring these days, although Castle and Hawaii Five 0 are decent enough shows.  I mostly watch reality tv like Survivor, The Apprentice, America's Next Top Model and Amazing Race.  Of course one of my all time favourites in the reality tv genre, Jerry Springer is still around but for a one off show, there was nothing better than Man v Beast.

You had Kobayashi in a hot dog eating contest with a bear, midgets vs an elephant pulling a Boeing 747 and a sprinter vs a Zebra.  Classic tv, they don't make em like they used to now do they.
