The Canadiens had a bit of a bad rid up to and including the outdoor game in Calgary going 3-5-2 over a ten game stretch.
However, the win against the Evil Empire in Vancouver started us on a 4 of 5 streak which has us up to twelve games over .500 and 77 points. We have still not guaranteed ourselves a spot given the Leafs and others are in their normal push for 9th spot streak.
Our schedule is still road heavy but we have won three in a row on the road so we are turning that around.
46 is starting to play well for the first time since October. His goal in Vancouver seems to have rejuvenated him. If only he can keep it up. Lars Eller is showing good promise at centre and is our first big top 3 centre in some time.
Many fans rightfully bemoaned not picking up forward help at the deadline as we are still small up front and need some sandpaper to take on the cement heads in Boston and Philadelphia. Our injuries on defence prevented picking up said sandpaper but Sopel who we picked up from Atlanta has assisted our penalty killing (we have not given up a goal since we picked him up). Mara has not looked out of place either.
In the end, we are well positioned.
Two big games are next, away to Boucher's henchmen in Tampa and then home to the evil Bruins on Tuesday.
