Best breakaway of the season

Count Jr had a road game yesterday in North Burnaby and while his team lost 4-0, he had a pretty decent game.  We were short two players so had to call up two six year olds who did not look out of place.  It was cute given one of them knows Count Jr from school as they are both in French Immersion just in different grades.  I was parlez-vousing with him on the bench.  It was my first time as acting asst coach and it was a blast.

Funniest part was during the game at one point Count Jr decided to try to talk to me during a shift to tell me what had happened to me, I just yelled skate...

Anyway, in the third period he had his best breakaway of the season.  He took the puck from inside his blue line, deeked a Burnaby player and then broke free and sped away.  He used the open ice stickhandling technique he learned at hockey camp (Pacific Elite Hockey School) and sped into the zone.  Unfortunately he was on his backhand which he has not yet developed so he turned to shoot on the forehand.  As he did so, the right Bby dman who had an angle caught him.

Still, it was Count Jr's best breakaway of the season.

He has been really playing well lately, scored on Saturday on a breakaway and really showing more aggressiveness in going for the puck and not letting his teammates always take it first.

He took a great shot yesterday, one of his hardest of the season that went through the goalie but ended up on the post.

Next Saturday will be busy for him. He has a game at 730am in one city, then a tryout camp for his 3 on 3 hockey at 10 in another city, then out to a third city for another club game.

His legs will be like jello by the end of the 3rd game but he can handle it.
