and yes I hated them before the Canadiens were shut out in Calgary yesterday in the "Heritage Classic" game.
We should not be subjecting the million dollar assets the teams have to freezing temperatures, bad ice and the distraction of a spectacle game in a playoff race.
Oh I know it gets attention for the NHL and they are Bettman's toys but in the end, how much do you really get out of them? A bit more revenue and some tv exposure but it isn't worth the risk of injury.
Most of these players no longer grew up on outdoor rinks. I'm 44 and I stopped playing outdoor games when I was seven. Some might have outdoor rinks in the back yard or skated on lakes but that is no longer the norm.
The outdoor games are gimmicks, nothing more.
